Justice Christopher McDonald of the Iowa Supreme Court is accepting clerkship applications for the 2023-24 term. Applicants should have excellent academic credentials (top 12.5% required) and outstanding writing and research skills. Position is intended to be a term clerkship opportunity beginning in August 2023.
The law clerk will conduct legal research, draft memoranda, prepare case summaries, and review opinions to assist Justice McDonald with the disposition of cases.
All applicants must complete an Iowa Judicial Branch Application for Employment. Applicants must also submit a cover letter, resume, law school transcript, writing sample, and either a reference list (at least 2 references listed) or letters of recommendation (at least 2 letters of recommendation). Graduation from an ABA accredited law school, high standard of academic excellence, considerable legal research, and experience writing for a legal journal are required.
