Iowa Attorney General seeks litigation attorney. The office is a dedicated group of attorney’s serving the people of Iowa. The office seeks committed public servants to join us. The Special Litigation Division seeks an attorney to work on litigation impacting the Department of Corrections. The position requires representing the DOC in federal litigation and district court. Work include Section 1983 claims, constitutional issues, post-conviction relief cases involving disciplinary issues within Iowa’s prisons, occasional appeals to the 8th circuit and Iowa State Courts, 17A claims, mental health cases, and other civil litigation. The successful applicant will be self-directed, interested in constitutional law, and have excellent research and writing skills. This position requires courtroom and appellate work. This is a unique opportunity for specialization and courtroom experience outside of the usual litigation path.
