Provides professional legal representation for the City of Des Moines; works independently with minimal supervision; performs related work as required.
Performs professional legal work related to economic development programs, real estate development, planning and zoning, building code, City finance and other municipal law matters. Work requires a high attention to detail. Drafts, reviews and provides legal advice on complex real estate development agreements and transactions, economic development loan agreements and related security documents, and contracts and regulatory documents related to planning and zoning, building code, housing, City finance, and Federal grant programs. Represents City employees, boards and commissions and agencies. Represents City before state and federal administrative agencies.
Acceptable Experience and Training: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Juris Doctorate degree; and a minimum of five years of business, transactional and/or municipal law experience.
