Snell & Wilmer, one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the Western United States currently has an opening for a Project Manager. The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys and administrative departments to apply sound project management principles and processes to the planning and execution of tasks. The ideal candidate will be proficient in proactively managing changes in scope, work plans, and budgets, as needed, and should have 5-7 years of project management in a law firm or professional services firm; other similar work experience will be considered. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: - Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and others to define scope, identify work tasks, estimate time/duration, assign resources, prioritize tasks, define dependencies, track spending, identify risks, and manage performance against goals.
- Actively participates in all phases of the project. Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project.
- Ensures timely and accurate completion of all project management reports including milestone, backlog/financial forecast, resource forecast, status and other reports, as requested.
- Applies analytical skills to solve problems that may come up during a typical work day.
- Analyzes data and makes decisions that affect projects on a regular basis.
- Ensures risks and issues are managed and escalated in a timely manner.
- Ensures any change orders arising are discussed well in advance to ensure expectations are managed effectively.
- Conducts post-project reviews and document lessons learned.
- Champions the PMI principles, and ensures project governance is put in place throughout all project phases
- Manages their own time effectively to maximize utilization and to balance demands from multiple projects.
The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- PMP or willingness to obtain PMP within one year of start date
- Solid knowledge, understanding and experience of financial operations
- Ability to manage a high volume of work and diverse range of projects and activities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience in the professional services industry is a plus
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)
