Sullivan & Ward, P.C. is seeking an Attorney whose primary responsibilities are to perform legal work representing generation and transmission cooperatives, their member distribution cooperatives, and affiliated associations. The work performed includes, but is not limited to:
identifying and assessing systemic and operational problem areas and associated legal risks in the environmental, worker safety, commercial carrier, disaster recovery, employment and other state and federal regulatory areas with a goal of compliance with applicable federal and state statutes and rules and regulations,
communicating information to cooperative member representatives, including staff, boards, management and officers, and communicating with public, private and governmental officials,
provision of training and training programs for utilization by Iowa’s cooperatives and their members,
provision of assistance to cooperative management and boards in responding to and managing problems and risks that exist or are determined to have the potential to exist including assisting management and boards in obtaining the services of private consultants, firms, or institutions for the purpose of providing training and education not otherwise available from the firm.
Desirable Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state law and regulations in the areas of environmental, worker safety, commercial carrier, disaster recovery, employment, and utility law; successful experience in the practice of law; demonstrated ability to work as part of a team; leadership skills; experience with federal and state regulatory agencies.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited law school, licensed to practice law in the State of Iowa and the equivalent of five (5) years of full-time successful and responsible experience in the practice of law. Must be self-motivated and able to work autonomously.
