Dechert LLP is seeking a Resource Management Analyst to manage the firm’s electronic and print subscription renewals and acquisitions, ensuring resources are properly evaluated, approved, and processed. Please note: START DATE: JANUARY 2019.
The Resource Management Analyst will work closely with the Director of Research Services, Manager of Technical Services, Practice Group Directors, Collection Development Analyst and Research Services Manager (EMEA). In addition, the Resource Management Analyst will interact with Dechert attorneys, administrative staff members and outside vendors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Resource Management :
Manage the firm’s digital portfolio of over 300 resources across all offices, US and EMEA.
Partner directly with the Dechert Procurement team on contract renewals to ensure language meets firm requirements and make recommendations for changes to licensing agreements and contracts.
Ensure all Research Services contracts are entered into the firm-wide contract system.
Monitor the firm-wide contract system for notifications related to Research Services, keeping Manager of Technical Services informed of upcoming deadlines, and ensure contracts are processed on time, with no suspension of services.
In collaboration with the Collection Development Analyst, review print and online subscriptions when due for renewal, including identifying and evaluating alternatives, reviewing usage statistics, assessing price increases and making recommendations to the Manager of Technical Services and the Director of Research Services.
Partner with the Manager of Technical Services to create and implement new acquisitions and renewal procedures.
Work with the Financial Coordinator to ensure seamless processing of renewal invoices.
Acquisition and Budgeting:
Coordinate with the Acquisitions Assistant on proper budgeting for desk copies.
Collaborate with the Collection Development Analyst on Research Services and practice group collection initiatives, making recommendations to the Manager of Technical Services, Director of Research Services and Practice Group Directors.
Perform monthly budget review to identify inaccuracies, duplication and unpaid subscription renewals.
Assist the Director of Research Services, the Manager of Technical Services and the Practice Group Directors to prepare annual budget.
Occasional travel to other Firm offices.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Extensive legal and business Resource Management experience.
Understanding of common licensing terms for electronic resources.
Well-developed professional interpersonal skills.
Outstanding problem solving ability with outstanding organizational, management, and supervisory skills.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple competing tasks and demands, provide high levels of customer service and maintain a professional demeanor under stress.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree required
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited school, or equivalent degree required.
Two to five years of legal reference, technical services or resource management experience with deep and broad knowledge of the legal materials and databases used to support the Firm’s practice areas and research needs for client work and for business development efforts.
