Assist and support the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel in the performance, direction, and oversight of all legal services for Nebraska Medicine, an academic health system that includes two hospitals, a physician practice group, and multiple affiliated legal entities. Lead and develop a team of strategic legal advisors who provide legal counsel and advice on areas of law that include general healthcare, academic medicine, Stark Law, anti-kickbacks statutes, fraud and abuse, EMTALA, payer relations and contracting, employment, information technology, patient privacy, data security, corporate compliance, non-profit tax exemption, medical malpractice, real estate, litigation, and healthcare transactions, including affiliations, mergers and acquisitions.

Ten (10) years relevant legal experience required.
Minimum three (3) years managing a team of attorneys required
Broad knowledge of healthcare law required.
Significant and demonstrated leadership experience with an ability to develop and retain staff with exceptional talent, insight, and commitment to the organization required.
Proven track record of developing strong relationship and using communication skills, personal credibility and demeanor, and knowledge base to create and strengthen trust of legal department required.
Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
High ethical standards, integrity, and excellent leadership skills required.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while still demonstrating good judgment required.
Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills required.
Strong analytical skills required.
Ability to prioritize and manage a diverse and constantly changing workload in a fast-paced environment required
License to practice law in good standing in Nebraska required. If not licensed in Nebraska, must be licensed in good standing in at least one other state and willing and eligible to obtain Nebraska license within six months of hire.
