Earthjustice is now accepting applications for a staff attorney position to be based in our San Francisco, CA, office. We seek an attorney to join our growing team of lawyers who work to speed the transition from dirty fossil fuels to clean energy solutions in key countries around the world. The attorney will collaborate with our foreign partners to develop and implement legal strategies to stop the extraction, export, and consumption of coal and natural gas in Latin America and other regions.
Earthjustice is the premier nonprofit environmental law organization. We take on the biggest, most precedent-setting cases across the country. We wield the power of law and the strength of partnership to protect people’s health; to preserve magnificent places and wildlife; to advance clean energy; and to combat climate change. We partner with thousands of groups, supporters, individuals and communities in the United States and around the world to engage the critical environmental issues of our time, and bring about positive change. We are here because the earth needs a good lawyer.
Founded in 1971, Earthjustice has a distinguished track record of achieving significant, lasting environmental protections. We achieve this by hiring people who share a passion for justice and a healthy environment. Our headquarters are in San Francisco with offices in Anchorage, Juneau, Los Angeles, Tallahassee, Honolulu, New York, Philadelphia, Denver, Seattle, Bozeman, Miami and Washington, DC.
Earthjustice has a long track record of success in partnering across borders to use US, foreign, and international law to protect the global environment. Drawing on deep experience in international human rights law, international environmental law, and foreign and international litigation, our International Program works with partners in South Africa, South Asia, Australia, Indonesia, Latin America and elsewhere on domestic and international legal advocacy to reduce dependence on dirty fossil fuels and increase reliance on clean energy resources. As we increase our efforts in these areas, a substantial portion of the new staff attorney’s work will be to help us deepen our collaborations with our partners in Latin America on litigation and legal advocacy to stop fossil fuel development
Although it is our strong preference that this position be located in San Francisco, CA, where our International Program is based, another location might be considered in exceptional circumstances.
