Are you an experienced recruiting manager with a strong track record of legal recruiting success? As the Legal Recruiting Manager you will use your strong connections with legal recruiting headhunters nationally as you lead the hiring for lateral associates for the West Coast offices of Goodwin. Your collaborative and proactive management skills will help you as you lead and develop a small team of professionals (Specialist, Coordinator and Assistant) in setting and implementing best practices and recruiting strategies for both lateral associates and the summer program/OCI. Reporting to the Director of Legal Recruitment, the Legal Recruitment Manager will be located in either our San Francisco or Redwood City office and will thrive in a demanding and growing geography.
The Legal Recruiting Manager will focus on:
Working with the Directors of Legal Recruitment to implement creative strategies and processes for sourcing and hiring lateral partner and associate candidates;
Managing and developing the local Legal Recruitment team;
Working with business units on strategic growth initiatives and development of lateral candidate pipelines;
Collaborating with business unit leaders and directors to effectively onboard and integrate lateral candidates;
Actively developing and maintaining relationships with local and national search firms (including implementing and negotiating agreements);
Working closely with the diversity committee and other internal constituents to promote the active recruitment and retention of diverse candidates to the firm;
Pitching the firm by articulating the firm’s interests, strategic focus, and growth strategy;
Overseeing the firm’s internal due diligence processes for all local lateral hires;
Maintaining the appropriate metrics to report and measure success as it relates to lateral recruitment;
Managing all aspects of the local Legal Recruitment budget;
Working with the Legal Recruitment Directors on strategic projects and initiatives to support various office committees and goals;
Analyzing data and trends in key markets to identify potential candidates;
Keeping current with industry updates and changes at competitive firms that could result in potential lateral opportunities;
Assisting as needed with Summer Program and OCI; and
Actively participate in the Firm’s community to enhance the collaborative culture.
Qualifications and Relevant Experience to be successful include:
Bachelor’s Degree and 6-8 years of direct recruiting experience (at least 5 years of that experience managing a recruiting department), preferably with a law firm.
Exceptional organization skills, ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and smoothly.
Outgoing, client service-oriented personality with a professional demeanor.
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interact effectively with candidates, all levels of firm personnel and a variety of external entities.
Must possess superior judgment and discretion and be able to protect and maintain highly confidential information.
Sophisticated and strategic research skills to identify lateral partner candidates.
Working knowledge of recruiting software and applicant tracking systems (ATS), Lawcruit.
Travel required to other Goodwin office locations and professional conferences, as requested.
Flexibility to work extended hours as needed
