Richards, Layton & Finger, Delaware’s largest law firm, seeks an innovative Applications Analyst for its IT team in Wilmington, DE. This position’s responsibilities would include:
Working with attorneys, support departments and personnel to support software technology needs in all areas of practice;
Customizing applications, developing macros, queries, script files, and batch files for automating various tasks;
Evaluate user requirements to develop databases and spreadsheets that will enhance efficiency and productivity;
Designing enhancements, and upgrades for the Firm's SharePoint environment.
Researching, evaluating and experimenting with new software as needed;
Installing, updating and maintaining software applications and databases;
Administration and maintenance of the Firm’s SQL databases and Software Systems, including routine off-hours maintenance.
Maintain ‘detailed’ documentation for the Firm’s applications, including configuration, Patching procedures and customization information.
Provide timely problem troubleshooting for software issues escalated by User Support; both during and after hours.
Work with the Firm’s technical staff to maintain current database records for change management.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Thorough knowledge of complex automated information systems as normally acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in MIS, computer science– or, the equivalent experience;
Two to five years of progressively responsible work experience with legal or other professional service organizations in order to gain experience in managing automated information systems including strategic planning, analyzing complex issues and difficult systems problems;
Ability to communicate complex systems information and ideas effectively and efficiently to attorneys, managers and staff – often with minimal preparation;
Ability to rapidly analyze issues, anticipate consequences, make decisions and initiate action;
Advanced knowledge of Windows 10 operating system; Microsoft SQL and Access, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
Ability to fully administer and maintain MS SQL and MS Access databases;
Proficient in legal software platforms (iManage, IntApp, Mobile time entry, West km, Handshake, etc.);
Experience in application development process automation and improvement.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to maintain effective relationships with attorneys, clients and staff, in person, by e-mail and telephone;
Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain when performing essential duties. Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with time constraints, interruptions, and stressed attorneys and staff.
Must be able to work independently but in a team environment to implement and support specific projects on tight schedules.
