Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP has an opening for a Network Engineer in our Phoenix office. Our firm is an Am Law 200 law firm that provides a wide range of legal services in the areas of intellectual property, litigation, business transactions, regulatory and government relations.
The Network Engineer is responsible designing, implementing, administering, and supporting the firm’s network and infrastructure technologies. This person will be responsible for monitoring health and performance of the network, making adjustments as necessary, and planning for growth and changing demands. The majority of work conducted by the person in this position is project-oriented and requires strong technical skill, teamwork, and communication skills. This is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Director of Technology.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Design, implement, and support network devices, including routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, cabling, etc. (Cisco Catalyst and Nexus, Cisco Wireless, Palo Alto Firewalls, etc.)
Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements to core network technologies and architecture to achieve reduced cost, increased availability, and better security
Design, implement, and support the firm’s IP voice and video technology suite, including Cisco Unified Communications stack and other related technologies
Monitor the network for overall health and performance and make adjustments as necessary, reactively and proactively
Collaborate with other engineers to configure and test comprehensive backup and disaster recovery capabilities
Administer and support the firm’s virtual server and storage infrastructure, including Nutanix hyperconverged servers and legacy Dell servers and storage
Collaborate with engineers within the firm’s enterprise applications team, provisioning storage and compute resources to satisfy application requirements
Conduct advanced troubleshooting and perform root cause analysis on complex issues
Create and maintain thorough network and system documentation
Occasional afterhours work and support
Bachelor's degree in management information systems, computer science, or related field, or an Associate’s degree with additional related experience
A minimum of 7 years’ experience working in information technology
5+ years’ experience designing and administering virtualized server environments (VMware preferred)
Applicable certification from Cisco, Microsoft, VMware, or similar
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, Layer2/3 networking, MPLS, SSL, IPSec, NAT, QoS, etc.
Hands-on experience with Cisco route and switch devices (e.g. 3850, 4500X, 5548, etc.)
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Cisco Unified Communications (CallManager, Unity, Jabber, Telepresence, etc.) and/or similar technologies
Strong knowledge of protocols such as DNS, DHCP, NTLM, Kerberos, SNMP, and SSL
Excellent troubleshooting skills across networking, servers, storage, and Windows
Basic scripting skills with any language (e.g. Powershell, Perl, Python, etc.)
Strong organization, planning, and project management skills
Strong communication skills and team-oriented
Inclined to find creative and innovative solutions for new or complex problems
High ethical standards
Additional Preferred Qualifications (not required, but will certainly help you stand out)
Experience modernizing infrastructure solutions to leverage cloud technologies, including IaaS and SaaS
Knowledge of SD-WAN technologies; hands-on experience with implementing low-cost high-performance network solutions is preferred
Advanced IP voice and video knowledge with expertise on related concepts (e.g. QoS, SIP Directory Management, etc.)
Experience working within a controlled security framework and/or aiding in the design or implementation of a robust security program (i.e. collaborating with a CISO, InfoSec Director, etc.)
