The role of the Senior Casualty Claims Adjuster is to investigate, evaluate and adjust Public Entity claims. Assigned claims typically consist of medium to complex non-litigated and litigated auto liability, general liability, public officials, employment practices, law enforcement and property claims.
Evaluate pool coverage based on claim report, certificate of coverage, applicable statutes and case law.
Identify key issues and investigation required.
Interview, telephone, and/or correspond with members, claimants and witnesses; obtain and review police and medical records, appraisals and repair estimates to evaluate injuries and property damage pursuant to client instructions; varying method of investigation according to type of coverage.
Work with and provide specific guidance to independent field adjusters.
Determine extent of the client’s financial exposure with respect to claims; set appropriate case reserves.
Revise case reserves based on developments obtained during the course of adjusting the claim.
Handle complex litigated claims with limited input from the Unit Manager.
Select and manage defense and coverage counsel.
Select and manage experts.
Attend mediations/settlement conferences when necessary.
Report claims to the regional office when required by client instructions.
Effectuate prompt payment to claimants and service providers within assigned levels of authority, as set forth within detailed client account instructions.
Possess knowledge of and comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements in all applicable jurisdictions.
Meet detailed quality assurance standards of performance.
Be alert to fraud and implement special procedures if fraud is suspected.
Obtain and maintain all required licenses and certifications and meet all continuous training and certification requirements

Bachelor’s degree in related field from four-year college or university preferred
Minimum of 5 + years of industry experience in Property and Casualty Claims
