Summary of Position:
The Applications Analyst I is responsible for assisting in supporting the full systems life cycle business systems of the Firm. Activities include, but are not limited to involvement with systems installation, integration, maintenance, upgrades, patch installation, configuration, trouble-shooting, and performance monitoring. This position will participate in these tasks with direct supervisor and direct execution, as well as through coordinating, overseeing, and delegating with and to Technology department resources as well as external vendors, service providers, contractors, and consultants. Additional duties include working with related process stakeholders to identify and resolve related problems and issues as well as realize efficiencies as a result of process and systems improvements. This position will also serve the role of project manager for some if not all related activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Installation, configuration, upgrading, patching, and maintenance of systems programs, modules and related system software packages.
Trouble-shooting of problems related to software performance and functionality.
Coordinates with software providers and related vendors to schedule upgrades and related services.
Monitoring server performance and availability for related servers.
Coordination of server hardware and operating system maintenance with appropriate stakeholders.
Over-site of backup operations and strategy.
Represents systems requirements to parties who are responsible for development and supporting related disaster recovery and business continuity strategies. Ensures same are appropriate, effective, and periodically tested.
Monitor and review system event logs to proactively manage server environment.
Write and support scripts to perform various operating system administrative functions.
Write SQL language queries to support systems applications as needed.
Perform database table maintenance activities.
Management database views and indexes
Perform data analysis to facilitate identifying and resolving issues and problems.
Perform SQL backups.
Work with SQL transaction logs.
Monitor database performance.
Monitor and perform database consistency checks.
Assist with data integration and data migration activities.
Perform systems analysis to ensure that integrated systems are working properly.
Work with other departments to resolve systems issues.
Perform testing functions on all related systems.
Works with appropriate parties in the use and maintenance of correction and transport systems activities.
Develop test plans.
Make recommendations about system components sizing.
Analyze systems performance.
Work with stakeholder departments to determine systems and software requirements.
Assist with the development of systems and software related solutions for process related problems and issues as identified by stakeholders.
Function as lead or member (where needed and appropriate) and technical liaison for systems and related systems projects.
Provide status updates.
Document project information.
Coordinate with other project resources.
Two year degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer technology, management information systems, or related field of study.
5+ years of progressive experience working with computers and computer software, with 1-3 years serving in a similar capacity administering an enterprise level system.
Applications Administration: Client/server database applications, Data integration techniques, Vendor management, Consultant engagement and management, Scheduled maintenance activities, Upgrades and patches.
Systems Administration: Microsoft-based systems, Server virtualization software, Storage area networks, Account management, Scripting, Driver manipulation, Firmware upgrades, Performance base-lining, monitoring, and trouble-shooting, Security and disaster recovery, Local area and wide area network related concepts.
Database Administration: Microsoft SQL (2008R2 preferred, 2005 minimum), Basic SQL programming, Data structures, indexing, views, Database maintenance activities, Reports management.
Business Analysis: Requirements specifications and capturing, Business unit interface.
Project Management: Establishment of timelines, Gantt charts, predecessor/successor relationships, resource loading and management, Familiarity with Microsoft Project, SharePoint, etc.
Responds to inquiries quickly with professionalism and tact, writes clearly and informatively, able to effectively communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical staff.
Works well in a team, works well with others at all levels of the organization.
Able to mine and collect data needed for problem solving and design projects.
Strong ownership and responsibility, high level of professionalism, maintains confidentiality.
Ability to organize, manage, prioritize, and handle numerous projects/tasks, occasional heavy loads. Detailed oriented.
Produces quality work reliably and consistently, ability to self-educate.
